Three short-season Single-A Tri-City pitchers combined on a seven-hit shutout Friday night as the Dust Devils defeated Hillsboro 9-0 to improve to 25-18 - the best overall record in the Northwest League. Elsewhere, in the Padres system 20-year-old right-hander Ronald Herrera picked up his first win for Double-A San Antonio, where first baseman Luis Domoromo and left fielder Tyson Gillies both drove in four runs. And left-hander Thomas Dorminy, 22, allowed one run on three hits over seven innings to lower his earned run average to 3.39 for low Single-A Fort Wayne.

Dust Devils' right-handed starter Angel Mejia, 20, allowed six hits and three walks over six innings as he improved to 2-2 and lowered his earned run average to 6.21.

Right-hander Louis Distasio (3.07 ERA) allowed a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in two innings. Right-hander Sam Holland (3.00) completed the shutout with a strikeout in a perfect inning. Shortstop Peter Van Gansen (.322) was 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored. First baseman Ty France from San Diego State was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored to raise his batting average to .323.

Third baseman Carlos Belen (.232) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Left fielder Jose Carlos Urena (.283) was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (55-51): Tacoma 7, CHIHUAHUAS 3 - 3B Cody Decker (.272) was 3-for-5 with a RBI and run scored. 1B Jason Hagerty (.369) was 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI. CF Travis Jankowski (.500) was 1-for-4 with a walk. Starting RHP Bryan Rodriguez (1-2, 9.75 ERA) allowed five runs on 10 hits and two walks with a strikeout in 4 1/3 innings. RHP Nick Vincent (4.06) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (45-60): MISSIONS 9, Frisco 5 - Herrera (1-0, 5.73 ERA) allowed five runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts over seven innings. RHPs Stephen Kohlscheen (3.00) and Tayron Guerrero (2.97, allowing a hit with two strikeouts) followed with scoreless innings. Domoromo (.252) was 2-for-5 with his third home run. Gillies (.250) was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly. DH Hunter Renfroe (.271) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. 2B Taylor Lindsey (.202) was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and three runs scored. C Griff Erickson (.226) had two doubles in three at-bats with a walk, a RBI and two runs scored. 3B Duanel Jones (.272) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. SS Diego Goris (.266) was 2-for-5 with a double.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (39-65): RANCHO CUCAMONGA 7, Storm 2 - Lake Elsinore committed six errors leading to four unearned runs. Starting RHP Matthew Shepherd (2-7, 5.66 ERA) allowed six runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. RHP Bryan Verbitsky (4.05) allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. LHP Chris Nunn (5.40) allowed three walks with two strikeouts in two hitless, scoreless innings. 1B Marcus Davis (.253) was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (52-51) - TIN CAPS 2, West Michigan 1 - Dorminy issued a walk with four strikeouts. LHP Kyle McGrath (3-0, 2.28 ERA) allowed three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in two scoreless innings to get the win. LF Franchy Cordero (.234) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. SS Ruddy Giron (.316) and DH Franmil Reyes (.243) were each 2-for-4.

ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (14-18): The Padres game against the Giants in Peoria was postponed by rain.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (23-30): Orioles 6, PADRES 3 - 3B Felix Suarez (.213) was 3-for-4. CF Jose Sotillo (.244) was 2-for-3 and was hit by a pitch with two runs scored. 1B Leudy Molina (.227) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a RBI. Starting RHP Starlin Cordero (2-2, 4.67 ERA) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three innings.
