White Sox Place J.B. Shuck on the Disabled List; Recall Scott Carroll from Class AAA Charlotte

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game vs. the New York ­Yankees, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder J.B. Shuck on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring and recalled right-handed pitcher Scott Carroll from Class AAA Charlotte.

Carroll, 30, has gone 1-1 with a 3.28 ERA (9 ER/24.2 IP) in 12 relief appearances over two stints with the White Sox this season. He has worked at least 2.0 IP seven times.

Carroll also has made 10 starts with Charlotte in 2015, going 4-2 with a 2.45 ERA (14 ER/51.1 IP) and .232 opponents average (44-190). He has allowed two earned runs or less eight times.

Shuck, 28, is hitting .278 (27-97) with six doubles, one triple, 11 RBI, nine walks and four stolen baes over 54 games this season, his first with the White Sox. He has appeared in 16 games in right field, nine in center and six in right.
