Poway High grad Dickerson paces streaking Triple-A El Paso

Poway High grad Alex Dickerson was 4-for-5 with two doubles and his eighth homer Monday night to lead Triple-A El Paso to a 4-3 win at Salt Lake. The victory was a franchise record, seventh straight win on the road for the Chihuahuas.

Will Middlebrooks and Rymer Liriano also homered for El Paso, which improved to 54-48.

Left fielder Dickerson raised his batting average to .311 and stole a base.

Dickerson, 25, leads the Pacific Coast League in runs scored (65) and ranks in the top-ten of many other offensive categories: eighth in batting average and on-base percentage (.383); ninth in total bases (171) and OPS (.895) and tied for seventh in doubles (27).

Liriano (.271) was 2-for-4 with his ninth homer. Middlebrooks, who is hitting .300 since being optioned to El Paso from the Padres on July 22, drove in two runs with his second homer and a sacrifice fly. Designated hitter Cody Decker (.260) was 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

Starting right-handed pitcher Chris Smith (3.92 earned run average) allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings.

Right-hander Nick Vincent (3-3, 4.15 ERA) struck out one in a perfect inning to get the win. Right-higher Leonel Campos (2.92) struck out three around a hit in a scoreless inning to get his first save.

Center fielder Travis Jankowski didn't play Monday due to a sore knee that he suffered while sliding Sunday.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (43-58): Missions 13, CORPUS CHRISTI 7 -- C Griff Erickson, a graduate of Westview High, was 3-for-5 with a double, three homers, two runs scored and four RBIs to raise his batting average to .223. RF Yeison Asencio (.284) had a double and his ninth homer in five at-bats for three RBIs and two runs scored. 1B Luis Domoromo (.247) was 3-for-5 with a double and his second homer for two RBIs. CF Hunter Renfroe (.269) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. Starting RHP JustinHancock (3.54) allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks with five strikeouts in three innings. RHP Bryce Morrow (2-2, 5.29 ERA) allowed two runs (one earned) with five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. LHP Eury De La Rosa (0.00) gave up a walk in an otherwise perfect 1 2/3 innings.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (39-61): STORM 5, High desert 4 (10 innings) -- 1B Marcus Davis (.255) was 4-for-5 with three doubles (21 on the season), an RBI and two runs scored. CF Auston Bousfield (.288) was 3-for-5 with a run scored. RF Nick Torres (.333) was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs on a pair of sacrifice flies. Starting RHP Zech Lemond (5.50 ERA) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings. RHP Eric Yardley (3.25) allowed no runs on three hits with three strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings. RHP Jason Jester (2-0, 3.86) struck out one in a perfect inning.

SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A TRI-CITY (22-17): Spokane 1, DUST DEVILS 0 -- Tri-City lost three pitchers combined on a one-hitter. Starting RHP Adrian De Horta (0.00 ERA) allowed one hit and a walk with five strikeouts over six shutout innings. RHP Louis Distasio (3.55) struck out three in two perfect innings. RHP Sam Holland (1-1, 3.21 ERA) walked two and committed a fielding error around striking out the side in one inning, while allowing the game's only (unearned) run to score. SS Peter Van Ganzen (.317) and RF Mason Smith (.224) were each 2-for-3 with a walk. 1B Ty France (.292), from San Diego State, was 2-for-4 with a double.

ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (13-16): The Padres had Monday off.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (21-28): REDS 5, Padres 2 -- LF Angel Santos (.263) was 2-for-4. Starting RHP Wilmer Torres (0.00 ERA) allowed two hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three scoreless innings. RHP Erick De Los Santos (1-1, 8.39) allowed a run on two hits and two walks wiith two strikeouts in two innings. LHP Joel Garcia (1.99) allowed three unearned runs on three hits in two innings.
