This will be Klein's third stint with the Rangers this season. He last pitched in a start May 25 against the Indians and is 1-0 with an 8.25 ERA in eight games. Klein is 1-0 with a 0.91 ERA this season in 12 appearances for Round Rock. He has made four starts in Triple-A and should be a suitable long-relief option.
Texas relievers allowed a season-high nine runs Sunday in a 13-7 loss to the Angels. Six pitchers appeared in the game.
Bass' 51 2/3 relief innings rank second in the American League, and he leads the Majors with six relief outings of at least 3 2/3 innings. Bass pitched Saturday and Sunday against the Angels.
Ohlendorf has a 3.52 ERA in eight appearances with the Rangers this season, but he has battled injuries. He threw two innings and didn't allow a run in his last outing, June 3 against the White Sox, but was placed on the disabled list with a right groin strain.
Ohlendorf ended a rehab assignment Friday, going 1-2 with a 3.07 ERA in 10 relief appearances. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release or outright Ohlendorf to the Minors.
"We like Ross," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. "Unfortunate that Ross has been nicked up and injured for most of the year. … Given an opportunity, I think we've entertained the thought of keeping Ross in the organization if that's a possibility on his side."
• The Rangers' starting rotation remains in flux as the club has not announced starters for Wednesday or Thursday. Banister said Wandy Rodriguez could still start against the Yankees this week if he bounces back well after throwing 1 1/3 innings of relief Sunday.
• Delino DeShields was not in the lineup Monday. Banister said it was a simple day off and will allow Leonys Martin to stay engaged. DeShields was available off the bench.
• Adrian Beltre hit fifth in Monday's lineup. He has not started anywhere other than No. 3 or No. 4 in the order since Game 7 of the 2011 World Series, when he hit fifth. Banister said it's possible Beltre could spend time in the five-hole in the future.
