OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's have recalled right-handed pitcher Dan Otero from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt to Nashville, the team announced today.
Otero joins the A's for the second time this year. He began the year with the A's and was 2-3 with a 6.29 ERA in 23 relief appearances. Otero was optioned to Nashville June 5 and was 1-0 with a 1.08 ERA in nine relief appearances for the Sounds. He has not allowed a run in his past six games and 11.0 innings.
Bassitt was recalled from Nashville for his third stint with Oakland yesterday and had a no decision in the A's 5-4 win against Cleveland (6.2 ip, 7 h, 2 r, 2 er, 1 bb, 3 so). He was called up for the first time April 23 and logged a 3.38 ERA in five relief appearances. He returned June 30 to make two starts for an ill Sonny Gray and was 0-2 despite a 2.53 ERA before he was sent back to Nashville a week ago today.
