BALTIMORE -- Nationals right-hander Jordan Zimmermann and his wife, Mandy, welcomed their second baby on Friday, prompting Washington to place the 29-year-old on the paternity list.
After all reports from Zimmermann's camp returned good news, manager Matt Williams announced that Zimmermann will be right back in action, starting Saturday in the second game of the weekend series against the Orioles.
Zimmermann must stay on the paternity list for at least one day, and since he can't pitch while he's on the list, the Nationals will activate him before Saturday's game and make a corresponding move.
Zimmermann is 7-5 with a 3.04 ERA this season, but he has allowed one earned run over his last 22 2/3 innings.
