Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas added to A.L. All-Star team in Final Vote

KANSAS CITY, MO (July 9, 2015) - Major League Baseball announced today that Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas has been named to the American League All-Star team via the Final Vote presented by Esurance. Fans were able to vote for Moustakas through several forms of online/mobile ballots throughout the week as well as by Tweeting the hashtag: #VoteMoose today.

Moustakas, 26, will be participating in his first All-Star Game, which is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 at Cincinnati's Great American Ballpark. He's batting .301 this season with 16 doubles, a triple, seven homers and 39 runs scored this season.   The left-handed hitting infielder ranks fourth in the American League, hitting .339 against right-handed pitching, while he's 12th in overall batting average. He's recorded 25 multi-hit games this season, which are more than he had all of 2014. Moustakas has been named the Royals Majestic Player of the Month for April and June this season.

With Moustakas added to the squad, the Royals had a club record seven players named to the All-Star team. The seven All-Stars are the most for any one team since Texas had eight players on the 2012 squad.
