Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves prior to tonight's game vs. the Los Angeles Angels:
- Vidal Nuño, LHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma
- Danny Farquhar, RHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma
- Charlie Furbush, LHP, placed on 15-day disabled list with left biceps tendinitis (retro to 7/8)
- Mayckol Guaipe, RHP, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 7/8)
Nuño, 27, returns to the Mariners after making one start for the Rainiers on July 5 at Fresno (W, 6.0,7,4,4,1,6,HR). He appeared in 9 games for the Mariners from June 7-July 1, going 0-0 with a 2.53 ERA (3 ER, 10.2 IP). He was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 3 in a 7-player trade. Nuño was eligible to return to the Major League roster due to Furbush going on the disabled list.
Farquhar, 28, returns to the Mariners roster for the third time. In his most recent stint with AAA Tacoma he appeared in 7 games going 0-1 with 1 save and a 2.61 ERA (3 ER, 10.1 IP). In 22 appearances with the Mariners this season is 0-3 with a 6.49 ERA (19 ER, 26.1 IP).
Furbush, 29, will be going on the disabled list for the second time in his Major League career (last in 2012). The left-hander made his last appearance Tuesday (July 7) vs. the Tigers, striking out 3 batters in 1.0 inning. Furbush has made 33 appearances this season, recording a 2.08 ERA (5 ER, 21.2 IP) with 13 holds and has stranded all 16 inherited runners.
Guaipe, 24, recorded a pair of losses in the series loss vs. Detroit, his second stint with the Mariners. In three relief appearances with Seattle he is 0-2 with an 8.31 ERA (4 ER, 4.1 IP). With AAA Tacoma he has made 26 relief appearances, going 0-4 with 5 saves and a 3.94 ERA.
