White Sox steal another HR from Davis

Shuck makes leaping catch on Sunday to match Garcia's snag on Saturday

White Sox steal another HR from Davis

CHICAGO -- If Chris Davis falls two home runs short of a particular milestone this season, he knows they were taken away on the Fourth of July weekend at U.S. Cellular Field.

Davis hit a line drive to right in the ninth inning of the White Sox 3-2 victory Saturday that Avisail Garcia snared over the right-field wall for the second out of the inning.

Sunday's catch had less of the drama, and Davis actually received an RBI for his sacrifice fly. But in the eighth inning, with the Orioles already well ahead in their eventual 9-1 victory, Davis lofted a towering shot to left that defensive replacement J.B. Shuck went over the fence to corral.

Davis' sacrifice fly

"Both plays were great plays," Davis said. "I think the one yesterday was a little more harder to swallow because it would have tied the game. Today, obviously with the big lead, runner on third with less than two outs, a little bit easier to digest.

"But you just tip your cap, man. They made two great plays. It didn't feel like the ball was really flying today or any of the days for that matter. They made two great plays."

Must C: Garcia's insane catch

Shuck actually replaced Melky Cabrera in the top of the eighth and didn't realize it was Davis being robbed again until after the play happened. Davis waved a white towel in the dugout shortly after Shuck's catch.

"I didn't see it, but I can imagine the feeling he's going through," said Shuck. "He hit that thing about a mile high. I was able to at least get back there and give myself some time to hopefully time it and get up and go get it."
