CHICAGO -- Orioles prospect Hunter Harvey, who was shut down in mid-May because of tightness in his right elbow, was slated to start a throwing program on Sunday. O's manager Buck Showalter wasn't sure about the exact details, but Harvey, ranked No. 2 among the club's top prospects and No. 34 overall, per MLB.com, being ready to throw is certainly good news for the club.
Jason Garcia, the team's Rule 5 Draft pick, is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment for Double-A Bowie on Monday. Garcia has been on the disabled list since May 13 with tendinitis in his right shoulder. If Baltimore wants to keep him, he will have to be activated and in the bullpen for 20 days, not including September's expanded rosters.
Garcia, whose velocity was down considerably from Spring Training before landing on the DL, has pitched to a 5.93 ERA in eight big league appearances.
