Mets Minor Leaguer Abreu Suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that New York Mets Minor League catcher Adrian Abreu has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The suspension of Abreu, who is currently on the roster of Single-A Savannah Sand Gnats of the South Atlantic League, is effective immediately.
