The Red Sox Foundation will host the 2nd Annual Tim Wakefield Golf Tournament at the Belmont Country Club on Monday, July 13, at 11:15 a.m. The event, which pairs participating golfers with Red Sox alumni and other sports celebrities, raises funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Franciscan Children's Hospital.
"Many know that my passion for golf is second only to my passion for baseball," said Red Sox Foundation Honorary Chairman Tim Wakefield. "By spending a fun afternoon on the green with former teammates and other athletes, we can help raise critical funds for two highly regarded charitable organizations and the worthy causes they support."
This year's celebrity tournament participants include, Dana Barros, Dick Berardino, Jim Calhoun, Tom Caron, Jim Corsi, Dave Cowens, Mike Eruzione, Dwight Evans, Doug Flutie, Keith Foulke, Sam Horn, Bill Lee, Jim Lonborg, Steve Lyons, Darnell McDonald, Lou Merloni, Bob Montgomery, Mike O'Malley, Rico Petrocelli, Dana Quigley, Jim Rice, Shawn Thornton, and Tim Wakefield.
Some of the tournament's top sponsors this year include, Walmart, Cross Insurance, Keurig, Sword & Spoon and Tyco, along with 22 additional hole sponsors.
