A's Recall RHP Chris Bassitt from Triple-A Nashville
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt from Triple-A Nashville to start tonight against Colorado, the club announced today. Sonny Gray has been scratched with flu like symptoms. A corresponding roster move will be announced later today.
Bassitt joins the A's for the second time this year as he posted a 3.38 ERA in five relief appearances during his first stint from April 23 to May 10. He held opponents to a .135 batting average but issued nine walks in 10.2 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander spent the balance of the season with Nashville where he was 2-6 with a 3.71 ERA in 12 games, including nine starts. Bassitt held the opposition to a .216 batting average, which was fifth lowest in the Pacific Coast League, and struck out 64 batters in 63.0 innings while walking just 18 and yielding one home run.
