Arenado has won an NL Gold Glove Award in each of the last two seasons, but he had never hit 20 home runs until this year. The 24-year-old leads all NL players with 68 RBIs this season, and with last week's power surge, his 24 homers are tied for third in the NL.
Arenado didn't play last Monday, but he hit two home runs on Tuesday in a 10-5 win over the D-backs. The slugger was held in check Wednesday before returning with a homer in the finale against Arizona. Arenado delivered a two-homer game on Friday and again on Sunday against San Francisco.
The Rockies went 3-3 during Arenado's starring week, taking two of three from Arizona before dropping two of three against the Giants. Arenado has contributed at least one RBI in seven straight games, while seven of his nine hits last week were home runs. The only two times he walked were intentional.
This award represents the second time that Arenado has been named the NL Player of the Week. He also garnered the honor for the week ending Aug. 24, 2014.
