Escobar exits with left hand injury after HBP

PHILADELPHIA -- The Nationals continue to have problems with the injury bug, as third baseman Yunel Escobar left Friday's 5-2 victory over the Phillies with a left hand injury.

Escobar hurt his hand in the first inning when he was hit by a pitch from Phillies right-hander Aaron Harang. Escobar was on the ground for at least a minute before going to first base.

After the Nationals' half-inning ended, Escobar was taken out of the game. Danny Espinosa switched from second to third base, while Dan Uggla entered the game at second.

Manager Matt Williams said Escobar had preliminary X-rays taken and the results were negative.

"It's pretty swollen, so we'll see how he is tomorrow," Williams said.
