Saltalamacchia sparks Braves over collegians

Braves at the plate: Kelly Johnson had an RBI single in a two-run fourth inning that gave the Braves the lead for good. Jarrod Saltalamacchia had two extra-base hits, including an RBI triple in the five-run sixth inning that broke the game wide open.

Georgia at the plate: Left fielder Kyle Keen opened the game with an opposite-field double and scored on a Joey Side sacrifice fly. Keen's hit was the only one recorded by the Bulldogs through the first seven innings.

Braves on the mound: Starter Horacio Ramirez allowed one hit and one earned run in two innings. Right-handed reliever Oscar Villarreal made an impressive Braves debut, striking out the first four batters he faced on the way to completing two perfect innings.

Georgia on the mound: Starter Iain Sebastian limited the Braves to one hit and one unearned run in two innings. Making his season debut, the freshman right-hander registered three strikeouts.

Up next: The Braves open their Grapefruit League schedule on Thursday, when they travel to Vero Beach to face the Dodgers. Jorge Sosa will throw the first two innings and scheduled relievers include Joey Devine and Macay McBride.
