Blue Jays land in London for week long festivities

Jays Care Foundation and Blue Jays Baseball Academy to suit up in Western Ontario

On Monday, June 22nd, JAYS CARE FOUNDATION and the Municipality of Thames Centre will officially open the newly enhanced baseball diamonds at the Dorchester Outdoor Recreation Complex in the Municipality of Thames, the recipient of a $100,000 Field of Dreams grant in 2014. This investment from Jays Care was used to purchase and install stadium lighting to increase access to baseball in response to a 20% increase in registration for local youth sporting groups in 2014. Following the opening, the Blue Jays Baseball Academy will host a clinic for Rookie League participants from the Boys & Girls Club of London.

On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Jays Care Community Crew will host a baseball diamond makeover with 20 volunteers at South East Optimist Park, while Roberto Alomar will host the Roberto Alomar & Friends Charity Home Run Challenge at Labatt Park. This unique opportunity has individuals swinging for the fences while competing for the Championship Batting Title. Hitting coaches for the day include Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, Lloyd Moseby, Devon White and Duane Ward. All proceeds from this event will benefit a youth-oriented project within the City of London.

From Wednesday, June 24th to Friday, June 26th, the Blue Jays Baseball Academy will host a Honda Super Camp at Dorchester Outdoor Recreation Complex, led by Roberto Alomar, Lloyd Moseby, Duane Ward and Devon White. These baseball instructional camps offer players ages 9-16 the ultimate Major League experience and are open to both male and female participants.
