Giron had hit "only" .286 (10-for-35) with two homers, three steals, four RBIs and eight runs scored in his nine starts previous to Friday night, dropping his batting average to .380 in the 25 games since he joined Fort Wayne from extended spring training.
Friday's game raised Giron's batting average back to .398. He has a .451 on-base percentage and a .660 slugging percentage for a 1.112 OPS.
Giron is 41-for-103 with three doubles, three triples and six home runs. He has six steals with 14 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He has drawn nine walks while striking out only 14 times.

The Padres other Single-A affiliate got a combined five-hit shutout from three pitchers at Lake Elsinore to defeat Lancaster 3-0.

Left-hander Chris Nunn (6.06 ERA) gave up two hits and a walk with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings.
