ST. LOUIS, Mo., May 29, 2015 - The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight's series opener with the Los Angeles Dodgers that they have activated outfielder Jon Jay (left wrist tendinitis) from the 15-day disabled list. Jay had been sidelined since May 11. The team also announced that right-handed reliever Miguel Socolovich was optioned to Memphis (AAA) following Wednesday night's game.
Jay, 30, was batting .248 (25-for-101) with 6 RBI in 30 games for the Cardinals before going on the D.L. He appeared in three games this past week with Peoria (A) during an injury rehabilitation assignment, taking 10 at-bats while starting two games in center field and one as the designated hitter.
