Rehabbing Gausman gearing up for Triple-A stint

BALTIMORE -- Kevin Gausman (right shoulder tendinitis) will throw to hitters on Friday and throw a side session Sunday before traveling to Houston with the Orioles to continue his rehab.

The plan is for Gausman to throw a two-inning simulated game in Houston -- around 45 pitches -- before likely joining Triple-A Norfolk to throw three innings on June 6. Assuming all goes well, Gausman will throw four innings on June 11 and then be re-evaluated.

With the O's planning to get Gausman on a consistent starting schedule at Norfolk, he will likely be optioned to the club instead of going on a Major League rehab assignment, manager Buck Showalter said.
