"I think he aggravated it in Cleveland [on Saturday] a little bit," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "Until you see it on the field, you're not going to hear much about it from Brandon. He's not going to alert anyone about it. He just plans to go out there and play, and then when it becomes noticeable, it becomes one of those situations where we take the lead to make sure he's getting adequate treatment and he's not going to continue to aggravate it.
"Today's one of those days where we'll spend a lot more time on treatment than we probably do on ground balls and batting practice."
Kristopher Negron started at second base in place of Phillips.
