Colorado Rockies Reinstate Pitcher Brooks Brown from Disabled List; Add David Hale to Roster for Doubleheader Against San Francisco

Club places left-hander Ken Roberts on disabled list

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies on Saturday reinstated right-handed pitcher Brooks Brown from the 15-day disabled list and added right-hander David Hale to the active roster as the 26th man for the Coors Field split doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants.

To make room for Brown's reinstatement, the club placed left-handed pitcher Ken Roberts on the 15-day DL due to left-elbow inflammation.

Brown, 29, has not pitched since May 3 due to right-shoulder inflammation. He is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA (14.0 IP, 7 ER) in 12 games this year and is 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA (40.0 IP, 15 ER) in 40 Major League games since making his Major League debut in 2014. He made three rehabilitation appearances for Triple-A Albuquerque, allowing four hits and three runs in three innings over three appearances. Brown was placed on the DL May 14, retroactive to May 4.

Hale, 27, is scheduled to start Saturday's 7:10 p.m. MDT second game against the Giants. He was 5-5 with a 3.02 ERA (98.1 IP, 33 ER) in 47 games, eight starts, for Atlanta in 2013 and 2014 before being acquired by Colorado on Jan. 30, 2015.   Hale, who began the year on the 15-day DL, suffered a strained left oblique in Spring Training. He was reinstated from the disabled list on April 26 and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hale went 0-3 with a 6.33 ERA in six combined starts between Triple-A and Single-A, making five starts for Albuquerque (0-2, 6.93) and one for Modesto (0-1, 0.00). Overall, he allowed 19 earned runs in 27.0 innings with 14 walks, 24 strikeouts and three homers.

Roberts, who turned 27 on March 9 has made eight appearances for the Rockies. He has allowed 12 hits and five runs (5.00 ERA) with two walks and five strikeouts.   Roberts made his Major League debut on May 3 at San Diego.

The Rockies have a full 40-man roster.
