RF JERMAINE DYE, who drove in the only run of tonight's game with an 8th inning single, has been selected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2005 World Series. Dye hit safely in all 4 games of this Series, batting .438 (7-16) with one homer and three rbi . He produced 4 hits in his last 5 trips to the plate in this Series, a single in the 14th inning on Tuesday and a 3-4 performance tonight.

It marks the 7th time that an outfielder has won the World Series MVP with Boston's MANNY RAMIREZ earning those honors in 2004. Dye receives a Chevrolet vehicle of his choice for winning the Series MVP.

THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX ended the 2nd longest winless span in World Series history tonight as the Pale Hose had gone 87 years since winning their last World title in 1917. It is the White Sox' 3rd lifetime championship as the team also won in 1906

WHEATIES FOR WHITE SOX: Wheaties tonight announced the release of a special-edition package honoring the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox. White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle is prominently featured on both the front and back of the package. The new Wheaties box will be available nationally by mid-November. This is the first time the Chicago White Sox have been featured on a Wheaties package. The last Wheaties recognizing a World Series champion team honored the 2004 champion Boston Red Sox and featured David Ortiz with his teammates.
