Now Commenting On:

We've come up short each night

Astros rookie Chris Burke is providing daily commentary to MLB.com throughout his team's postseason run. Burke discusses Tuesday night's 14-inning loss to the White Sox in Game 3 of the World Series at Minute Maid Park.

This is frustrating, because the White Sox have made more plays than we have, and that's why they're up three games. But we feel like we could have easily won all three of these games and we came away with none of them. That's the frustrating part -- we've done some things really well, and we haven't capitalized in all phases of the game.

We've come up short each night. It's kind of tough to handle that we're now one game away from elimination.

It definitely makes it harder to deal with a loss when you think about all the chances we had to win the game. Pretty good chances. I had a chance to win it and I'm frustrated that I didn't get it done. We had some chances before that, and after it. It was one of those things where they made the pitches when they needed to, and at the end of the day, we didn't.

You've got to give those guys a lot of credit. They scored five runs off one of the best pitchers in baseball, Roy Oswalt. And they outlasted us in the end. All we can do is worry about tomorrow and hopefully get this thing turned around.

The only way to handle it is to play one game at a time. It's like climbing the top of a mountain. If you look at the top, the end will never look like it's achievable. Hopefully, we'll win tomorrow's game and worry about the next one.

To beat those guys four times in a row would be an unbeliveable feat, but you can't look at it like that. You've got to just beat them tomorrow, beat them the next day and take our chances in Chicago. We've really put ourselves behind the eight ball this time. We'll see what we've got left.
