O's expect to activate Everth from DL

BALTIMORE -- Everth Cabrera is eligible to return from the disabled list on Friday, and all indications point to his activation.

"He's physically ready to play and an option to be activated tomorrow in Miami," O's manager Buck Showalter said. "I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be."

Cabrera was placed on the 15-day DL on May 7 with a bruised left foot, and he was batting .205 with four RBIs in 83 at-bats before his injury. Cabrera would likely replace Rey Navarro on the 25-man roster.

Matt Wieters will also be with the team in Miami to get in some workouts. Showalter didn't give any specifics on exactly what Wieters would be doing, but he did say the Orioles needed to see where he is with his arm/elbow.

Showalter also gave an update on Ryan Flaherty, who is heading to Triple-A Norfolk on either Sunday or Monday to play two or three games. Flaherty is eligible to return on Wednesday after being placed on the DL with a strained right groin muscle.
