Shirley, MA, resident to be honored at Fenway Park tomorrow

Heather Morse is the winner of the 2015 Honorary Bat Girl contest raising awareness for breast cancer

BOSTON, MA - The Red Sox today announced that Heather Morse, a resident of Shirley, MA, will be honored during a pregame ceremony at Fenway Park tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, before the 7:10 p.m. game against the Texas Rangers.

Earlier this month, Morse was named the Red Sox' 2015 Honorary Bat Girl Contest Winner by Major League Baseball. The program recognizes baseball fans who have been affected by breast cancer and have demonstrated a commitment to eradicating the disease.

Through three separate battles with cancer, including her current struggle with metastatic breast cancer, Morse has raised over $20,000 towards finding a cure. The mother of three, who is also an avid Harley Davidson bike rider, was chosen for her relentless commitment to raising funds and awareness for cancer.

The Honorary Bat Girl program was introduced by Major League Baseball in 2009 to raise additional support for the league's annual Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer initiative. The program is supported by MLB charitable partners, Stand Up To Cancer and Susan G. Komen.
