Francoeur: A night to remember

|
Braves rookie right fielder Jeff Francoeur is providing daily commentary to MLB.com throughout his team's postseason run. Francoeur breaks down his team's thrilling 7-1 victory in Game 2.

This is going to be a night I'm going to remember forever. It was just last night that my roommate Brian McCann and I were sitting in our apartment and talking about how cool it was going to be to face Roger Clemens for the first time.

When we were talking about Clemens last night, we were just hoping to get a hit off him. We weren't even thinking about either of us hitting a home run off a legend like Roger.

But in Brian's very first postseason at-bat, he homered off Clemens. I couldn't be prouder or happier for him. We've been best friends since we were 12 years old and always dreamed of having the chance to do something like that.

This is going to make our plane ride to Houston a lot better than it would have been if we were down 2-0 in the Division Series. Now we're going to Houston feeling good and confident that Jorge Sosa will help get us a win in Game 3.

We always feel good when Sosa is on the mound. But when you consider he hasn't lost on the road this year, we really feel good about his chances of helping us gain a lead in the series.

I know the fans in Houston are going to be loud. They'll help their team just like our crowd helped us tonight. I was really impressed with how loud it was as soon as we took the field. Then when Brian homered, they really got going and got behind us.

After looking at just six pitches in four at-bats on Wednesday, I really surprised myself by seeing 20 pitches in three at-bats against Roger. With it being our first time facing each other, we might have been just feeling each other out. I kind of surprised myself with that kind of patience.

Jeff Francoeur's diary appears as told to Mark Bowman, a reporter for MLB.com. This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.
