Royals Charities will host Shirts Off Their Backs during the Saturday, May 16 game against the New York Yankees. First pitch is set for 6:10 p.m. Previously held on the final Saturday home game of the season, this year's event will benefit HappyBottoms, a Kansas City charity that provides diapers to children and families who cannot afford them on their own.
Shirts Off Their Backs gives fans the opportunity to win an autographed jersey right off the back of their favorite Royals player or coach. Throughout the game, Royals Charities will join HappyBottoms volunteers to sell $1 instant-win scratch tickets. Following the game, winners will be escorted to the field where they will receive a game-worn jersey directly from a Royals player or coach.
"For the past two years, HappyBottoms has been meeting with the Royals to talk about diaper needs and how working together could really make an impact," said Liz Sutherlin, Executive Director of HappyBottoms. "Shirts Off Their Backs is a great way to get our community involved in understanding this need and doing something that will help address it."
Fans may purchase tickets for the May 16 game and all remaining home games online at royals.com, by calling 1-800-6ROYALS, at area Hy-Vee stores or at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office.
