Postseason kicks off with Rally Monday

Celebrate with the Braves at Rally Monday

A lot of the players' faces look younger. The lines of statistics on the back of their baseball cards are shorter. But the end result is the same.

The Braves used 17 rookies during the course of the 2005 season, but they still found a way to capture the organization's 14th consecutive division title.

The team celebrated after clinching the division on Tuesday at Turner Field. Now, fans will have the chance to join the party with a Rally Monday celebration on Oct. 3 -- the day after the regular season ends.

The Rally Monday celebration will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. ET in the Villa Christina restaurant parking lot at Perimeter Summit, which is located at 3003 Summit Blvd. in Atlanta. There will be free food, music by the rock band Sister Hazel and a chance to win prizes, including postseason tickets.

Mark Lemke, Lonnie Smith, Pete Smith, Charlie Leibrandt and Jeff Treadway -- all members of the 1991 Atlanta team that started the streak of division titles -- will be in attendance. Dale Murphy, Steve Bedrosian and Jay Howell highlight some of the other former Braves expected to be at the celebration.

Later in the day, the party will shift to the ESPNZone in Buckhead. There will opportunities to witness player interviews and win prizes at the restaurant from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Atlanta's string of 14 straight titles is twice as long as the second-best streak in the Major Leagues. The New York Yankees are currently riding a seven-year streak that began in 1998.

The Braves will begin postseason play on either Oct. 4 or 5. If the Phillies win the NL Wild Card, the Braves will host the winner of the NL West, San Diego, at home beginning on Oct. 4. If Houston wins the Wild Card, though, the Astros will begin playing the Braves at Turner Field on Oct. 5.
