Texas Rangers return RHP Logan Verrett to New York Mets

Verrett, a Rule 5 Draft selection in December, had been designated for assignment on April 24

The Texas Rangers announced today that right-handed pitcher Logan Verrett (pronounced ver-EHT) has been returned to the New York Mets organization. Verrett, received by Texas from Baltimore in an April 2 waiver claim, had been selected by the Orioles in the 2014 Major League Rule 5 Draft from the Mets.

Verrett was designated for assignment by the Rangers on April 24 when the club purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Wandy Rodriguez from Triple-A Round Rock and cleared outright waivers. He was 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA (6 ER/9.0 IP) in 4 relief appearances for Texas this season in his first major league action.

By rule, the right-hander was required to be offered back to the Mets after passing through the waiver process. Verrett has been assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Rangers still have a full 40-man major league roster.
