Twins place Casey Fien on disabled list
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Casey Fien on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain. Fien suffered the injury in yesterday's game against Detroit in the ninth inning.
To replace Fien on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin from Triple-A Rochester. Tonkin went 0-1 with five saves and a 2.45 ERA (7.1 IP, 2 ER) in eight relief appearances this season for Triple-A Rochester. The 25-year-old made 34 relief appearances over the past two seasons with the Twins, posting a 3.26 ERA (30.1 IP, 11 ER) with nine walks and 26 strikeouts.
Tonkin (#59) will be in uniform and available for tonight's game vs. Chicago.
