MLB announces update on Orioles' schedule

Wednesday's Game Moved to 2:05 p.m., Without Fan Admittance; Weekend Series Moved from Baltimore to Tampa Bay

In light of the ongoing circumstances in Baltimore, Major League Baseball announced today a series of schedule alterations that are in addition to the postponement of tonight's game between the host Orioles and the Chicago White Sox:

  • Wednesday's scheduled Orioles-White Sox game has been moved from a 7:05 p.m. (ET) start to a 2:05 p.m. (ET) start. After conferring with local officials, it was determined that Wednesday afternoon's game should be played without fan admittance in order to minimize safety concerns.
  • This weekend's scheduled Orioles-Tampa Bay Rays series has been relocated from Oriole Park to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Orioles will be considered, and will play as, the home team during the relocated games.
  • Monday's and Tuesday's postponed Orioles-White Sox games will be made up as part of a doubleheader at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Thursday, May 28th.

The Office of the Commissioner will continue to monitor the situation and will remain in communication with the Orioles regarding their discussions with the Baltimore City Police Department and other local officials.

Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. said: "After conversations with the Orioles and local officials, we believe that these decisions are in the best interests of fan safety and the deployment of City resources.

"Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by violence in Baltimore, and everyone in our game hopes for peace and the safety of a great American city."

The Orioles will announce details shortly for those who held tickets for the games impacted by these changes.
