Colorado Rockies place right-hander LaTroy Hawkins on 15-day disabled list; reinstate pitcher John Axford from restricted list

Right-handed pitcher Scott Oberg recalled from Triple-A; infielder-catcher Wilin Rosario optioned to Triple-A

Denver - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher LaTroy Hawkins on the 15-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis. To fill Hawkins' spot on the active roster, right-handed pitcher Scott Oberg has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Additionally, the club has reinstated right-handed pitcher John Axford from the Restricted List and optioned infielder-catcher Wilin Rosario to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hawkins, who announced that this will be his last season, has appeared in seven games for the Rockies, pitching six innings and surrendering seven runs. He is 1-1 on the season with one save in three opportunities.

Rosario has appeared in 10 games for the Rockies, including two starts at first base. In 14 at-bats, he is hitting .357 (5-for-14) with three doubles and one home run. 

Axford, who turned 32 on April 1, made one appearance before being placed on the Family Medical Emergency List on April 12. He was moved to the Restricted List on April 19.

Oberg, who turned 25 on March 13, was called up to the Rockies on April 12 and made three appearances.   He made his first Major League appearance and collected his first win on April 14. The Rockies selected him in the 15th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.

With today's transactions, the Rockies' current 40-man roster is at 40.
