The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks @LosDbacks) will host Univision Deportes Fiestón 2015 Liga MX this Sunday, April 26, as part of their Fiesta de la Familia at Chase Field.
The D-backs' second Fiesta de la Familia, which begins at 11:00 a.m., consists of a street festival atmosphere, including food trucks and live music from the popular Banda la Llegadora, a traditional Sinaloan band. Additional activities include Mariachi and Ballet Folklorico. The Fiesta de la Familia event is presented by Fry's Food Stores, Chevy, Altos Tequila, Little Debbie and WingStop.
For the first time in Phoenix, the D-backs will host Univision Deportes Fiestón 2015 Liga MX which includes a viewing party on a large screen television of Liga MX Súper Clásico fútbol match between América and Chivas Guadalajara, the biggest rivalry between the two most popular and successful fútbol clubs in Mexico. Univision Deportes will bring its national set and sports experts to the Gila River Casinos Plaza at Chase Field, as main anchors Alejandro Berry and Jorge Calvo will be on site to host the pregame show and interact with fans beginning at 1:00 p.m. Additional activities include a beer garden, inflatables, face painting, a miniature soccer field, special visit from former Mexican National Team player Ramón Ramírez, and a musical performance by Tucson music star Luis Coronel, presented by Coors Light.
Coronel, who grew up as a D-backs fan in Tucson, has more than 1 million followers on Instagram and has become hugely popular both in the United States and Mexico. His performance is expected to take place leading up to the Liga MX Súper Clásico match and during the D-backs game, at approximately 2:45 p.m.
The D-backs hosted their first Fiesta de la Familia on April 12 and will hold their annual Hispanic Heritage Day, presented by Budweiser, on Oct. 3. The team recently played an exhibition game in Hermosillo, Mexico during Spring Training and continues to expand its presence in the Hispanic community in a number of ways. Last month, the D-backs launched their Spanish-language marketing campaign with the tagline, "Somos Hispanos. Somos D-backs."
