Malnati tied for lead in Mexico Malnati tied for lead in Mexico

It was a good day on the links for golfer Peter Malnati.

Malnati, playing in the Tour's El Bosque Mexico Championship, shot a 7-under 65 on Thursday to tie with Casey Wittenberg for the first-round lead.

Malnati, 27, came home with a sizzling 6-under 30 on the front nine of El Bosque Golf Club in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, after starting the day on the back nine. He made six birdies in the final nine holes and continued a remarkable year.

Malnati is ranked No. 1 on the Tour money list this year, having won earlier in 2015 at the Brasil Champions.
