Calhoun out of lineup due to tight calf muscle

ANAHEIM -- Angels leadoff hitter and outfielder Kole Calhoun did not start Sunday's game against the Royals due to a tight right calf muscle.

"He's taking a precautionary day," manager Mike Scioscia said. "I think he's been nursing it a couple of days. We just don't want it to go in the wrong direction right now."

Shortstop Erick Aybar batted first, and Collin Cowgill replaced Calhoun in right.
