CHICAGO -- The Cubs are ready to get the season started, but nature intervened as rain and cold temperatures prompted the team to postpone Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
No makeup date was announced for the game, which was the second of 2015 for the two teams. St. Louis beat Chicago, 3-0, on Sunday night. The Cubs and Cardinals meet again at Wrigley Field from July 6-8 and Sept. 18-20.
Jake Arrieta, who was scheduled to start Tuesday, will pitch Wednesday against the Cardinals and Lance Lynn in the series finale.
The Cubs did tweak their rotation slightly. Jason Hammel was to start Wednesday, but he was pushed back to Saturday for the second game of a three-game series against the Rockies. Travis Wood will open that set on Friday and Kyle Hendricks will make his 2015 debut on Sunday. Jon Lester, who took the loss in the season opener, will start Monday against the Reds at Wrigley Field.
Fans should note the Cubs have added portable toilets in the left-field concourse and outside Gate K at Wrigley Field in hopes of avoiding the long lines at the restrooms, which were a problem on Sunday.
