Lough expected back from DL when eligible

Showalter says outfielder likely to return Saturday; Hardy, Wieters still TBD

Lough expected back from DL when eligible

ST. PETERSBURG -- David Lough is expected to be the first Oriole to return from the disabled list, with the plan to activate the outfielder on Saturday, the day he's first eligible.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said prior to Monday's game he felt confident Lough -- who has been sidelined by a left hamstring injury -- would return Saturday, but wasn't sure if shortstop J.J. Hardy (left shoulder strain) would be ready quite that soon. Hardy and Matt Wieters (Tommy John surgery) also are eligible to return Saturday, with Jimmy Paredes (lower back strain) eligible to be activated from the DL on April 16.

"I know Matt's kind of thinking [for a return date]," Showalter said. "We'll see. Until he starts throwing and [see] how he feels the next day. He's been throwing some, but [it would have to be] more strenuous."
