PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and Chase (@Chase) have joined forces to provide much-needed equipment to Phoenix Union High School Baseball & Softball Teams this season as part of a new program titled "Chase Your Dreams." The program is a $300,000 commitment from Chase and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation to revitalize struggling high school baseball and softball programs in Arizona.
Earlier today, the D-backs (@Dbacks) and Chase surprised Maryvale High School and Carl Hayden High School with bats, balls, catchers gear, gloves, equipment bags, and basic field maintenance items before their game to kick off the "Chase Your Dreams" program. D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall, D-backs Legend and Special Assistant to the President & CEO Luis Gonzalez and Chase Commercial Bank Division Manager Mike Pickerd were on hand to help make the surprise special for the high school athletes. In 2015, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and Chase will work with the first 10 high schools, selected from the Phoenix Union High School District, to launch the charitable program. Working alongside Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner and Athletic Director Dr. Zachary Munoz, the D-backs and Chase will provide each school with financial support, equipment and supplies, facility improvements, coaches training, athlete training, field maintenance training and fun baseball experiences designed to increase their level of commitment and engagement.
Chase and the D-backs will host each high school baseball and softball team and their coaches this season for an on the field recognition prior to a D-backs game.
