Opening Night is just around the corner, and the Grapefruit and Cactus League schedules are winding down as several teams return home from Arizona and Florida.
Here's are four things to watch for during today's games (all times in ET):
• Freeway Series opens in Anaheim: LAD@LAA, 10:05 p.m., MLB.TV
The Angels host the Dodgers in Anaheim for the first of three exhibition games between the rivals in Southern California. The first two will be played at Angel Stadium, with the series migrating north to Dodger Stadium on Saturday.
Matt Shoemaker will make his last spring start for the Angels in the opener, while the Dodgers send a series of relievers to the mound.
A few hundred miles to the north, the A's and Giants will open another series between California-based squads. The Bay Bridge Series kicks off with games at AT&T Park today and Friday and a third at O.co Coliseum on Saturday.
• Ross closes out Padres' Cactus slate: MIL@SD, 3:05 p.m., Free audio webcasts on Padres.com and Brewers.com
Tyson Ross will take the ball for the Padres' Cactus League finale as the club hosts the Brewers in Peoria, Ariz. Ross, San Diego's No. 2 starter, has allowed just two runs and struck out 17 over his last two outings (11 innings). Twelve of those strikeouts came in his six innings against the Rangers his last time out. Opposite Ross will be Milwaukee's Matt Garza, also getting his final spring tuneup.
