De La Rosa could be No. 2 starter behind Collmenter

Fireballer could slide in rotation ahead of Hellickson

De La Rosa could be No. 2 starter behind Collmenter

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- When Spring Training started, D-backs manager Chip Hale said there were only two certainties for the starting rotation -- Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson.

Collmenter has been tabbed to start Opening Day, but that does not mean that Hellickson will start the season's second game.

Instead, the team might look to avoid having the two pitchers -- who are similar in style -- pitch back-to-back, and instead insert hard-throwing Rubby De La Rosa in between them.

"We are in serious discussions about doing something like that," Hale said.
