Yankees option RHP Ramirez to Triple-A

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Yankees optioned right-hander Jose Ramirez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Saturday's game, trimming the number of players in big league camp to 47.

Ramirez, 25, is rated as the Yankees' No. 19 prospect according to MLB.com. He compiled a 2.25 ERA in four spring outings and made his big league debut last season, posting an 0-2 record with a 5.40 ERA in eight appearances.

Having been converted from a starter into a reliever, Ramirez battled a recurring oblique injury last season that limited him to just 22 1/3 innings, including 10 in the Majors. At Triple-A, he was 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA in nine relief appearances.
