Guthrie back on track after missing start with illness

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Jeremy Guthrie is right where he wants to be.

The Royals right-hander missed a start because of a stomach "disturbance," as Kansas City manager Ned Yost called it, but a Friday start against Minor Leaguers got Guthrie on schedule with more than two weeks remaining in Spring Training.

Guthrie went four innings and threw 59 pitches. He said afterward that he threw all four of his pitches and felt as good as he normally does at this point in the spring.

"Right now it's really about repeating my delivery and trying to get consistency," Guthrie said. "It was good."

Guthrie said the next step will be to get up to 75 pitches over four or five innings.
