Napoli scratched with right ankle soreness

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Mike Napoli was scratched from the lineup roughly 90 minutes before Friday's game against the Orioles due to some right ankle soreness.

"Nothing serious," Napoli said. "I've been getting after it pretty much in camp and just got a little right ankle soreness. I was able to hit today, I'm going to be able to hit the next couple of days. But I'm just going let it be, rest up and then get back out."

Brock Holt, who plays just about everywhere for the Red Sox, made his first start of the spring at first base in Napoli's place.

"Everything is good, but to keep on trying to play through it right now is probably not the smartest thing to do," said Napoli. "I feel good. I'll let it calm down and get back in there."
