Day after getting hit in head, Flaherty fine

FORT MYERS Fla. -- Ryan Flaherty was back in the Orioles' clubhouse Wednesday morning and said he was fine after taking a pitch to the head in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game.

"I could have stayed in yesterday," Flaherty said. "That was the first time I got hit in the head [at any level], but I think those new helmets are pretty good. I didn't really feel it.

"I'll stay back and work out [Wednesday]. I feel 100 percent though."

Manager Buck Showalter said he would rely on the team's athletic training staff as to when Flaherty can return to the lineup.
