Prospects Mondesi, Dozier among latest roster moves

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Royals on Wednesday trimmed their Spring Training roster to 46 by making several moves that included third baseman Hunter Dozier and shortstop Raul Mondesi, the team's top prospect.

Dozier, Mondesi, outfielder and former first-round Draft pick Bubba Starling, pitchers Buddy Baumann, Brian Broderick, Casey Coleman and Joe Paterson, and first baseman Matt Fields all were reassigned to Minor League camp.

The Royals also optioned pitcher Aaron Brooks, infielder Orlando Calixte and outfielders Lane Adams and Jorge Bonifacio to Triple-A Omaha.

Calixte's game-tying triple

"It was fun seeing those guys in camp," manager Ned Yost said. "They all did a great job."

Yost said he was particularly impressed with Calixte.

"He's a strong kid," Yost said.
