Breaking down the Rangers' 2015 Top 30 Prospects

The Rangers were ravaged by injuries last year, losing 95 games in their worst season since 1985. That was a stunning reversal for a team coming off four straight 90-win seasons, but Texas remained strong in one regard: It still has one of the strongest farm systems in the game (ranked No. 7 on MLB Pipeline's Top 10 list) -- literally and figuratively.

No prospect can match third baseman Joey Gallo's raw power, and he's just one of several promising sluggers in the Rangers' Minor League organization. Catcher Jorge Alfaro and outfielders Nomar Mazara, Lewis Brinson, Nick Williams and Ryan Rua also can punish baseballs, and they should arrive in Arlington in the next couple of years.

Texas has more than just mashers. The system is flush in right-handed pitching with nearly-ready starters Jake Thompson, Alex Gonzalez, Luke Jackson and Anthony Ranaudo, plus 2014 first-rounder Luis Ortiz and flamethrowing reliever Keone Kela. The Rangers also have a crop of middle infielders that's further away, headlined by converted outfielder Ryan Cordell, Traveis Demerritte, Josh Morgan and Yeyson Yrizarri.
