Ziegler to ramp up action, pitch in Minors game

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- D-backs reliever Brad Ziegler will pitch in his first game this spring Wednesday when he appears in a Minor League game.

Ziegler, who is coming back from microfracture surgery on his left knee, is slated to throw one inning. Daniel Hudson is scheduled to start the game and throw two innings.

If all continues to progress as planned, Ziegler should be ready for Opening Day. Meanwhile, the team is still trying to determine whether Hudson, who has thrown just 2 2/3 Major League innings over the past 2 1/2 years due to a pair of Tommy John surgeries, would be better served being a starter or reliever this year.
