SARASOTA, Fla. -- Twins closer Glen Perkins, who has been dealing with a mild right oblique strain, threw a bullpen session without any issues on Tuesday, and he is scheduled to pitch in a Minor League game on Thursday.
If all goes well in the Minor League game, Perkins would make his Grapefruit League debut this weekend. Perkins hasn't pitched in a game since throwing a scoreless inning against the University of Minnesota on March 4.
"Perkins threw this morning, and everything went well," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "We're going to try to get him in a game in the Minor League fields on Thursday, and if that goes well, we'll get him in a game over the weekend."
Perkins, a two-time All-Star, is expected to be ready for the start of the season if everything goes to plan and he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
