Experienced relievers to see enough game action

Ziegler, Reed expected to be ready for Opening Day

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- D-backs reliever Brad Ziegler is scheduled to make his first Cactus League appearance of the spring on Wednesday and appears to be on track to be on the Opening Day roster.

Meanwhile, closer Addison Reed will throw another bullpen session on Tuesday and he, too, should have time to get ready before Opening Day provided there are no setbacks.

Reliever Matt Stites is slightly behind Reed, and the team will proceed slower with him simply because he's a younger player.

"With Reed and Zig, they've been in the big leagues long enough where you could sort of give them the minimum appearances and back-to-back appearances to be comfortable with it," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "I think with Stites, we really have to be careful and make sure he's fully ready. If it's Opening Day, super, if it's not, it's OK."
